Mac Miller Sued For Another $10 Million Over Sample Used On Mixtape
Remember just a couple of weeks ago we reported to you; Bronx MC Lord Finesse filed a lawsuit against Mac Miller for sampling his song “Hip 2 The Game” without his permission? Well, Miller is being sued for another $10 million by another artist that goes by the name “Warm Speakers.” Miller sampled, Warm Speakers song entitled “The World Around You” , and used it for his own song titled “F*ck Em All” (which was featured on his Macadelic mixtape.) In June, Miller tweeted “Shoutout to @warmspkears for the song we sampled on “F*ck Em All.” That wasn’t enough for Warm Speakers. Warm Speakers is suing for Willful Infringement, violation of Copyright Law in addition, New York’s General Business Law. The file complaint stated “Miller uses other people’s music because it’s easier, cheaper, and faster than creating his own. Miller seeks to capitalize on the common misconception in Copyright Law that people whose music he takes have no remedy if he gives their music away for free.” What a bummer on Mac Millers part.
